Beijing was chosen as the location for the school due to its importance as the capital city and the centre of China’s political and cultural infrastructure. Additional factors contributing to the decision are the growing strength and stability of the Chinese economy, increasing internationalism in China and, of course, the enthusiasm which accompanied the preparations for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics.

Distinctive culture

We possess all the benefits of being a young school supported by the strength of tradition: a highly personal approach, adaptability, energy, excitement and the powerful realisation that each of us – students and staff alike – can put our own stamp on the evolving school personality. By drawing on the rich heritage of our partner schools in England and Bangkok, we enjoy a steadying sense of stability, identity and respect for tradition and traditional values.

Breadth of activities

We strive to develop our students as well-rounded individuals who are not afraid to try new things; modern day “Renaissance men and women” with broad interests and accomplishments. In addition to the academic curriculum, over fifty different enrichment activities are offered over the course of the year. All students must engage in the activities provided which can include weekend commitments.

Attractive learning environment

The Lower School is based in Grassetown, located in the countryside around Shunyi and yet still only 30 minutes from downtown Beijing.  This campus offers large open spaces and bright, sunlit rooms, within easy reach of most families.  The school also benefits from all new equipment and the creation of a new Eco-farm. 

The Upper School occupies the site of a former Chinese primary school in Chaoyang District.  It has been extensively refurbished and extended to provide a modern learning environment: our brand new classrooms, music practice rooms, science and ICT laboratories, multi-purpose sports hall and library all offer first rate learning experiences.

Situated just north of the third ring road, in Anzhenxili, the school is set in a safe and stimulating environment where students are aware of the cultural context in which they are gaining their international education.
