There’s no better way to start out your year than with a campy 80s horror movie about murderous vampire-zombies and men with unibrows. Eh? Eh?

“Mr. Vampire,” a Hong Kong  comedy-horror flick produced by martial arts legend Sammo Hung, was a hit when it came out in 1985, and later a cult favorite that helped to spawn the jiangshi (“hopping vampire/zombie”) genre in China. The film follows the unibrowed Taoist priest Kau and his two apprentices, Man-choi and Chau-sang, as they perform a reburial ceremony for a deceased rich man. To their horror, they discover that the corpse is nearly intact—and despite their best efforts, revives to become the dreaded jiangshi. Soon the vampire is off on a hopping rampage of death, made worse by the introduction of a deadly Succubus, both of which Priest Kau and his students must stop by any means necessary
