The Inner-Mongolian folk band Hanggai has been playing around Beijing for five years now, but there’s no better time to discover their music.

After all, they’re about to take over the West. Their whiskey soaked blend of throat singing, two-stringed horse-head fiddles, and pints of bitter punk?not only impressed NPR, but led to a number of world tours, and made the very bouncy “Introducing Hanggai” our editor’s favorite Chinese CD of 2009.
