Cobras Crash Birthday Bash

Two cold-blooded guests show up at a small party in Yunnan

04·08·2014

Two unexpected guests appeared at the birthday party of a local villager in Yunnan Province and created quite a stir. Phoenix New Media reported on these rare party crashers:

“On the afternoon of April 6, two cobras slithered into the family house of a local villager of the Dai ethnic group in Yunnan Province. The appearance of the two unexpected guests caused the host and guests to flee the party right away, fearing to return. Only after the animal control authorities were called, capturing the two cobras and releasing them back into the wilderness, did the hosts and guests dare go inside.”

Regardless of what attracted the two dangerous reptiles – whether it be the cake or the phat tunes – to the party, the animal control authorities found these two extremely dangerous, cold blooded predators chilling out at the party, according to Jintan Wang:

“At 5:40 pm, the animal control authorities arrived at the scene and found that the two extremely poisonous cobras were at ease, one winding around a cluster of banana trees and the other occupying a trash heap. When one officer spotted them with a flashlight, the cobras raised their heads and made hissing sounds. The officers claimed that they were at least one meter in length.”

These creatures can be extremely dangerous. According to a list published by Xinbang Wang, two types of dangerous cobras are native to China, the king cobra and the Zhoushan cobra, and indeed both are considered the most poisonous snakes in China. It could have proved the last birthday for the host. But, in true party style, after the cobras were safely released, the celebration continued; however, the incident left some guests justifiably frightened.
