China is known for being home to what is almost indisputably one of the world’s cutest animals, the panda. This year has been a very unique year for these black and white ambassadors – 12-year-old female giant panda Ju Xiao gave birth to triplets at Chimelong Safari Park in South China’s Guangdong Province on July 29, and they are the only surviving triplet pandas in the world.
After a three month campaign, the already famous trio was finally named: Kuku 酷酷 which means cool, Shuaishuai 帅帅 stands for handsome and Mengmeng 萌萌 of course means cute. The bamboo-loving bears had a spectacular naming party, one must add, better than birthday parties of most of us. There is only a one percent chance a giant panda will give birth to triplets, so the miracle triplets truly deserved it.
Legendary Chinese pianist Li Yundi has serenaded the triplets, as well as a lucky group of onlookers. The musician performed Chopin’s nocturnes and the Chinese classic Clouds Chasing the Moon for the panda trio on Monday, December 15, the China Daily reported. “Panda ambassador” Li Yundi truly hopes that the music he played at the event is going to bless the world’s first surviving panda triplets.
After a ceremony was held to reveal the names of the triplets, Chimelong Safari Park staff and the trio took a picture together.
