Chinese tennis legend Li Na retired from the sport around nine month ago and has now given a birth to baby girl on June 3. Li Na and her husband announced the news through her Weibo account, by posting a picture with the newborn’s footprint, reports CCTV News.
Li Na, who retired after knee injury on September 19, announced the pregnancy just few month after. She always hoped to have a girl as her firstborn, during her pregnancy she referred to the baby as “she” during interviews. Reportedly she was in Beijing for her delivery.

Jiang Shan (her husband) and I would like to introduce our Alisa, we are very happy and we love her.
Li Na is a true queen of tennis, China’s first and only two-time Grand Slam winner, and it is obvious that the birth of her child might mean the birth of a future tennis star, at least that is what netizens are hoping for. The bundle of joy was named Alisa on June 3, which means she shares the same birthday as tennis sensation Rafael Nadal. Baby Alisa was also born just one day from June 4, which is the date when Li Na lifted her first Grand Slam title in the French Open in 2011. Coincidence? I think not.
Li Na reportedly played tennis when she was pregnant, but not as “pre-natal education”. As an athlete herself she will obviously guide her daughter into sports, but not necessary tennis, reports China.org.
