One death has been confirmed at a Chinese embassy explosion in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, which took place at 9:35 local time, 11:35 Beijing time, AKI News Agency told TWOC. The cause of the blast is reported to have been a suicide bombing, and the fatality is confirmed to have been the attacker.
Chinese embassy guards were caught up and injured in the attack, but no embassy personnel fatalities have been reported.
Deputy prime minister Jenish Razakov earlier today said that authorities are trying to confirm the identity of the dead attacker.
The attacker’s nationality is currently unknown.
Local representatives told media that exact numbers of injured are still being verified and that ambulances have been dispatched to the area, which has been cordoned off from the public.
