The World of Chinese (TWOC) magazine focuses on sharing compelling and well-researched stories about culture, society, history, language, and people living in China. We want to bring these stories to life through videos and podcasts. To do this, we are looking for a talented multimedia specialist to support our print magazine and web design team to develop series of videos and podcasts for publication and broadcast. The ideal candidate can both manage partnered podcasters and videographers as well as create content independently.

Responsibilities

Video and audio editing

  • Work with editorial, marketing, and design teams to develop ideas for video and audio content; write scripts and find shooting locations and subjects; and see to the completion of video content from recording of raw footage to polished product
  • Shoot and edit video and audio footage with seamless transitions, bringing sight and sound together to tell a cohesive story
  • Input music, subtitles, graphics, and effects, creating rough and final cuts
  • Discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices

Graphic design

  • Understand TWOC’s brand and translate it into various graphical design elements for use in advertisement and social media campaigns
  • Work with marketing, editorial, and design team to conceptualize visuals and build upon TWOC’s visual brand

Requirements

  • Previous work experience and strong portfolio in video and audio editing and design
  • Comfort and familiarity with software for video, audio, and graphic design (e.g. Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Avid, Lightworks)
  • Familiarity with motion graphics and animation preferred
  • Strong sense of editorial storytelling and journalistic standards
  • Ability to work across editorial, design and marketing teams; manage contributors and collaborators; and deliver products on a regular schedule
  • Self-motivated, with creative mind and strong storytelling skills
  • Proficient in English and Chinese
