Check out this WWII classic about anti-Japanese daredevils
The World of Chinese Movie Night revisits Modernista Tuesday, December 27th screening the 1968 classic Gun Brothers (千面大盗 千面大盜), a tale of daredevil resistance to occupying Japanese forces during WWII. Martial arts directing supremo Ling Yun plays the lead role as gunman Master Chi, whose daytime cover as a suave playboy masks his nighttime exploits as a rebel intent on overpowering tyrannical county authorities. His activities soon attract the attention of Inspector Ma, a Japanese collaborator intent on tracking down his troublesome countryman and disrupting his attempts at romance in the process. The action soon intensifies as Master Chi’s twin brother joins the fray, providing the perfect platform for a stellar Shaw Brothers cast to get to work on the action scenes they do best.
