Born in 1974 and based in Wuhan, Shu Feilian is a leading figure in contemporary “wuxia” literature, a genre focused on martial arts, chivalry, and adventure. As chief editor of Gujin Chuanqi Wuxia Edition until its discontinuation in 2022, he mentored a new generation of “wuxia” writers. Shu is also known for his rural China stories, often inspired by his hometown in Hubei, and has published seven anthologies, alternating between “wuxia” and rural themes.
