Recently, a livestreamed wilderness survival contest in China’s Qixing Mountain has gone viral, but not for brute force—contestants are winning over the internet with traditional crafts and ancient wisdom, like knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and bamboo weaving for building shelters and making tools. After 41 days, only 14 contenders out of the nearly 100 entered the finals, vying for the 200,000-yuan grand prize.
