Rock 'n' Roll on the New Long March: Cui Jian Closes Beijing Music Festival with Symphonic Rock Spectacle
On the evening of October 20, 2026, Cui Jian, the “godfather of Chinese rock,” appeared at the closing concert of the 29th Beijing Music Festival (BMF), joining forces with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yang Yang and young pianist Ju Xiaofu for a rock-symphonic crossover performance. The encore, “Rock on the New Long March,” set off an impassioned full-audience singalong.
From opera and symphonic concerts to chamber music and crossover performances, the BMF, running from October 9 to 20, brings together nine acclaimed ensembles and 700 artists for events across the capital.
